Many voices

Circa 1968

Oh the world is full of voices

In a murmurous acclaim

And the sound is full of silence

And the silence full of shame

I will lift my voice in gladness

For the light that might have shone

I will sing a song of sadness

For the spring is almost gone

For our truth is tossed and scattered

And our love is scarred with scorn

And our hope in spring is shattered

And our summer is stillborn

And the vengeful furies hound us

In the swiftly fading light

Till the shadow wraps around us

And we founder in the night
