Many voices

Oh the world is full of voices

 

In a murmurous acclaim

 

And the sound is full of silence

 

And the silence full of shame

 

I will lift my voice in gladness

 

For the light that might have shone

 

I will sing a song of sadness

 

For the spring is almost gone

 

For our truth is tossed and scattered

 

And our love is scarred with scorn

 

And our hope in spring is shattered

 

And our summer is stillborn

 

And the vengeful furies hound us

 

In the swiftly fading light

 

Till the shadow wraps around us

 

And we founder in the night
